Human Resources Intern with the potential for a full-time career opportunity

Computer Associates International, Inc., (NYSE:CA) is a leading worldwide provider of solutions and services for the management of IT infrastructure, business information and application development. We are currently looking for an Intern to join our Human Resources team in Herndon, VA. Interns are responsible for performing a number of functions in a training capacity utilizing their technical, organizational, analytical, administrative, and/or financial skills. Interns will have daily interaction with CA Human Resources staff to gain practical experience in their field of human resource management.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate an ability to learn and apply new information in a timely manner. Display outstanding time management with the ability to quickly zero in on the critical few and put the trivial many aside. Ability to multi-task, show concern for all aspects of the job, and accurately check processes and tasks is a must. Strong oral and written communication skills are required and interns must demonstrate initiative with the proven ability to pursue things with energy. Interns must display outstanding customer service skills with an understanding of the needs of both internal and external customers. Strong career motivation with an interest in learning about the company and desire to pursue full time opportunities is a plus.

Job Description

Instigate seeks a dynamic, career focused team member who understands that customer service and entrepreneurship are playing an increasing role in today's successful talent management. Our internship will have you playing a hands-on role in a wide ranging set of issues and functions that support our client efforts. This includes providing support with: day-to-day operations, customer service, process/project management, employment/staffing, employee relations, data tracking and reporting, etc. A high volume of candidate sourcing/review, interviewing [phone and in-person], testing and follow-up communication is associated with this opportunity. This role requires significant interaction and communication with internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

-Develops positive relationships with clients, candidates and internal management.

-Reviews resumes/applications and evaluates applicants work history, education and training, job skills, desired salary and qualifications.

-Active involvement with web-based Recruitment, Applicant Tracking, Testing and Assessments, Background Checks and Drug Screening Systems.

-Interviews applicants for current open positions.

-Initiate assessments, skills testing, background investigations and drug screening per client requirements.

-Completes reference checks and makes hiring recommendations.

-Create and send HR and/or recruiting-related correspondence; e.g., applications, forms, offer letters, orientation materials, etc.

-Support internal Clients in other capacities, as needed.

-Support the ongoing development of tools and solutions for recurring customer requests. Suggest process improvements to help create efficiencies. Participate on process development and process improvement teams.

Qualifications

* Current Junior or Senior + enrolled in Business - Human Resources.

* HR related work experience desired.

* Exceptional customer service focus, including attention to producing quality results.

* Self directed and motivated with a passion for producing high quality work.

* Flexibility to accommodate different personalities and professional work styles.

* PC proficiency in MS Office.

This is a 20 week paid internship that begins on Monday, April 11 2005 and ends on Friday, August 26, 2005.

Hours are flexible the first six weeks to accommodate classes and other academic obligations. 30-35 hours a week after end of school year.
$12.00 an hour. Eligible to participant in our quarterly bonus programs.
