Human Resources Development Program

The Verizon Development Program – Human Resources (HR) provides a superb career foundation to outstanding Master-level Human Resources graduates who have the potential to assume HR leadership roles at Verizon. Program participants apply their academic and professional skills, address real-world challenges, and launch their careers in today’s most exciting industry -- telecommunications.

The program format typically entails three six-month assignments, each involving a different facet of the human resources function.  The assignments may be in the following areas: staffing, compensation, business partnerships, benefits, HR planning, labor relations, HR operations, workforce development, and employee relations.  The program can even orchestrate cross-functional experiences.  Assignments are selected on the basis of each participant’s background, experience, and career goals, resulting in a program that is custom-tailored to the individual.  Participants are also matched with executive mentors, who provide valuable guidance on career and professional development.

These on-the-job experiences are complemented by formal training in leadership, communications, project management, time management, and Verizon strategies.  Participants also attend Verizon Development Program Orientation.  This Orientation includes presentations by business leaders, team-building exercises, workshops, and social activities, which provide opportunities to meet and network with peers.

Assignment Locations:  Most likely in Dallas, TX, or New York, NY


Qualifications:

  • MBA/MA/MS in Human Resources Management or Labor and Industrial Relations
  • Excellent academic preparation and achievement with a minimum of 3.0/4.0 overall GPA (or equivalent)
  • Outstanding leadership and teaming skills
  • Superior communications and presentation skills
  • Evidence of mature, flexible, and innovative approaches to work experiences
  • Ability to function effectively in diverse environments
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the United States

Degreed Human Resource students. Students will be moved into different
human resource roles within our organization to develop the skills

JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for recruiting qualified personnel for Zale Corporation's Merchandising Training Program and 10-week Summer Internship Program. http://www.zalecorp.com/employ/college.aspx
Recruiting for open Assistant Buyer and Merchandise Planner positions when necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for sourcing potential candidates through a variety of methods including career fairs and career centers, internet, direct search, employee referrals and internal bids. Coordination and participate in recruiting functions such as career fairs, class presentations, career days and or other school sponsored functions. Conducts preliminary on campus interviews of qualified candidates and refer acceptable candidates to the next level of interview. Coordinate final dinner and interview schedules with appropriate corporate office personnel and selected candidates.
Conduct background check on applicants and produce offer/no offer letters for final candidates. Administrative duties including web site maintenance, candidate database tracking, invoice and budget processing as well as statistical information such as cost per hire analysis. 30 % travel required. Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or the equivalent and a minimum of two years experience in recruiting or HR environment.
