Since the MILR program develops excellent managers in the human resources and labor relations field, you'll find the two-year curriculum more structured than some graduate programs. You'll complete 48 credits, selecting six courses from one of four concentrations:
Human Resources and Organizations
Labor Market Policy
Collective Representation
Dispute Resolution
In addition, you'll complete these six required core courses:
- Collective Bargaining
- Labor Relations Law and Legislation
- Statistical Methods for the Social Sciences
- Organizational Behavior and Analysis
- Labor Economics
- Personnel Management
You may be able to substitute one or more of these required courses if you can demonstrate competence in the area of study. In addition, you'll also take four or more electives within ILR and across the university. You can select from offerings in the departments of Economics, Government, History, Psychology, and Sociology, as well as the Law School and the Johnson Graduate School of Management. What follows are sample curricula designed by students who graduated from the MILR programs. In addition to the core requirements, students have selected electives to meet individual career goals.
