The Human Resource Education Program is for students who intend to work in planning, implementing, and evaluating private-sector and government training programs. Students develop skills, knowledge, and experience in problem solving, organizational structure and dynamics, and strategies for interventions that produce change.

In addition to the program at the Charles River Campus, there is an Accelerated Master\'s Program (a full day of classes on Fridays and Saturdays on alternate weekends for two semesters) at the Corporate Education Center in Tyngsboro.

More information on the Tyngsboro program.

  2. Every doctoral candidate must take at least three courses (12 credits), beyond those taken at the master\'s level, from a list of designated research offerings.
  3. Every doctoral candidate must spend a minimum of one year in residence at Boston University. Residence is defined as registration for a minimum of 12 credit hours at the University during each of two consecutive semesters. (Summer Terms I and II may be considered one semester, offering 4 credits in one session and 8 in the other).
  4. A formal application for a comprehensive examination must be filed with the department chairman and faculty advisor. The examination must be completed successfully.
  5. Each candidate must demonstrate the ability to make a significant contribution in his or her field and to report this contribution successfully in a doctoral dissertation.

Note: The residency requirement for teaching assistants is met by registration for a minimum of 8 credit hours for each of two consecutive semesters.
