3、生化业：麻州为全美最重要之生物科技产业区之一，其生化企业数量仅次於加州，为全美第二大生化研发地区，该州Biogen、Genzyme、Millennium、PerSeptive Biosystems、Abott、Vertex等皆为全美著名生化厂商。此外，麻州亦是全美医疗研究最先进集中的地区，研究经费及住院医师占人口比例最高。
4、环保业：麻州有1, 300多家环保企业，规模可观。
5、电讯工业：麻州为全美重要电讯工业中心，全州约有四百多家电讯企业，在激光、光纤及光纤通讯网路产业方面特别发达。

 波士顿 (Boston) 位于美国东北部，是马萨诸塞州的首府，面积１２５平方公里，人口６５万。它濒临浩瀚的大西洋，是优良的海港城市。它周围还有十多个市镇，如哈佛大学、麻省理工学院的所在地剑桥市等，这些城镇的结合体被称为大波士顿区。 波士顿已有３６０多年的历史，被称为美国“最古老的城市”。１６２０年，一批因受宗教迫害的英国清教徒乘坐“五月花”号船，经过长途而艰难的航行，来到马萨诸塞州附近拓居。其中有一支由约翰·温斯洛普率领的队伍在查尔斯河入海口的南部建立了定居点。因为他们中有许多人来自英国林肯郡的波士顿镇，所以便把他们的定居点用故乡的名字命名。１６３２年，波士顿成为马萨诸塞州的首府，由于该城连接各地的道路象车辐一样放射出去，于是还获得了“车毂之城" 的别称。１８世纪中叶，波士顿一直是北美洲第一大城市。１７７３年，波士顿居民为反对英国政府征收高额茶叶税的茶叶政策，登上东印度公司的三条茶船，把价值１．８万英镑的茶叶倒入海中，这就是著名的“波士顿倾茶事件”。

波士顿气候冬天寒冷，夏温和舒适。一月份平均温度为-1.6℃，7月份平均波士顿曾是英属北美开展抗英独立运动的中心温度23.3℃。年平均降雨量1092毫米。
波士顿始建于1630年，以英国林肯郡的波士顿命名，当时的主要居民为英国的清教徒。至18世纪中叶，波士顿一直为英属北美最大城市，后被费城和纽约超出。历史上，波士顿曾是美国早期开展抗英独立运动的中心，美国独立战争的第一枪就是在波士顿西郊的莱克星顿和康科德打响。

Boston is the largest city in New England and the site of many significant events in early American Colonial and Revolutionary history. Much of that early flavor remains today in its cobbled streets, in its historic landmarks that bring alive Paul Revere\'s ride and the Boston Tea Party, and in the Federalist row houses on Beacon Hill. A historic seaport that grew to prominence in the days of the China trade and the whaling industry, the city maintains a thriving and picturesque waterfront. Famously enthusiastic about its professional sports teams, Boston supports the Red Sox, the New England Patriots, the Celtics, the Bruins, and the Revolution. Each April, the Boston Marathon passes through the Boston University campus. Beaches to the north and south, including the famous shores of Cape Cod, are within easy reach by car or bus. For the hiker or skier, the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont are but a few hours away by car, as are the picturesque shores of Maine.
